Grant Writer | Event Planner | Marketing Director | Volunteer Coordinator 

Grant Writer

Major Responsibilities:

  • Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders
  • Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations
  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors
  • Provide stewardship to current donors, including regular written updates (newsletters etc) to corporate and foundation donors
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
  • Strong editing skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources
  • Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies
  • Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research
  • Strong contributor in team environments

Event Planner

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist with negotiations for space contracts and book event space, arrange food and beverage, order supplies, equipment and signage, and ensure appropriate décor to meet expectations
  • Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process
  • Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters
  • Assist with managing on-site production and clean up for events as necessary
  • Prepare nametags, materials, notebooks, packages, gift bags, registration lists, seating cards, etc
  • Close out all events as required
  • Some travel may be required
  • Act as the point of contact as smaller events as needed
  • Help to document activities prior to and during the events for internal and external communication

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proof reading skills, and speaking
  • Excellent organization skills and experience with project management
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism
  • Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
  • Fantastic customer service ethics and high expectations for quality
  • Proficient using the Web to conduct research, event administration and procurement
  • Experience with Web communications, publishing, usability and/or social media is a plus

Marketing Director

Major Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of the Brand strategy
  • Developing the marketing strategy for new and existing products
  • Overseeing implementation of the Marketing strategy – including campaigns, events, digital marketing, and PR
  • Develop and produce marketing materials and programs
  • Manage social media presence and direct programs to improve social media reputation and recognition
  • Developing and delivering marketing and communications strategies for the organisation

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications
  • Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time

Volunteer Coordinator

Major Responsibilities:

  • Organizes, coordinates and manages the recruitment of volunteers
  • Maintains updated records on all volunteers.
  • Sets up and attends volunteer meetings. Reports to Board on volunteer activities as needed
  • Recommends and develops ongoing volunteer utilization
  • Develops and implements a volunteer recognition program

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proof reading skills, and speaking
  • Excellent organization skills and experience with project management
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers
